Strength Through Unity

The California Mining Association’s roots have been traced as far back as the late 1800’s, however, the membership in its current form began in 1961 and was know as the California Mine Operators. In 1977 the name was changed to the California Mining Association and offices were established in Sacramento.

Today, CMA promotes and protects the mining community through its aggressive lobbying, regulatory input and educational efforts. Assistance is offered to all members by providing recognition, information, contacts and resources. CMA’s effective committees, publications, seminars, tours and Annual Conference offer networking opportunities as well as educational updates.

Board of Directors

Each mining member has the power to nominate one Director. The Board of Directors meets once a year, usually at the Annual Conference. Officers of the Association are chosen by the Board of Directors. An Executive Committee is appointed by the Board of Directors and, along with Association officers, have full authority to govern the Association in the interim between meetings of the Board.

Regular Membership

For almost 40 years the California Mining Association has been visible before local government officials, state and federal legislative bodies, and all regulatory agencies. The economic health of your company depends on a healthy environment and CMA works hard to ensure that mining interests are protected by fostering public understanding and support for the industry. Your membership in CMA demonstrates the solidity of the industry to a wide variety of legislators and regulators.
